Telomerase inhibitors

Short telomeres have been associated with cell senescence and DNA damage and might drive an important pathogenic mechanism which determines prognosis in patients with MDS. Telomerase inhibitors, like imetelstat, target cancer cells with short telomere lengths and hyperactive telomerase, preventing their expansion.
